Quote of the day

Alan Corenk

"Television is more interesting than people. If it were not, we would have people standing in the corners of our rooms."

Oh, i almost forgot!

Ok, so last week at 6 pm an agency called me to do this audition at 7 pm. I went there and it went very well. So well that they told me that they tried to put me in it untill the end, the problem is that the client thought that my eyebrows were too big... ( What can i do? ) So, they chose this guy that, they told me, how should i put this... He... Couldn't... Well, let us say that is voice just didn't quite fitted the image that they wanted and as ( they told me ) they loved my voice ( they even said that one of these days if i wanted to quit the acting business and get a day job like doing voice overs, i could. Well, the poor guys didn't know that i already had done that before going to NY. I of course thanked them the compliments and told them that i'll try to keep on doing both things at the same time;) )And so, they wanted my voice for the commercial. So, there i went yesterday at 9 am, before going to shoot for the soap opera and... It's done! So, besides all this wonderfull amount of work i'm even getting some extras... Ok, so, if you can get the Portuguese tv, there's this commercial for Revista Maria ( wich, quite coincidentially, is the same magazine where my papparazi photo appeared ) where the voice of the guy isn't his. It's mine!

And now for something completely different...

Ooooo.... Kaaayyy... So... Forget everything i told you so far. The day after Luis Galvão Telles and me had a talk about my unnavailability to do the short film, the producer called me. They want to do the movie with me anyway. And... The I LOVE WHAT YOU DO play isn't going to open on the 23rd of February, but on the 3rd of March. Still, the last week of February is going to be a tough week for me. I'm going to be shooting the soap opera, rehearsing the play and while i should be getting some sleep, i'm going to be shooting the short movie. But isn't this all i wanted? Yes!

Hug,

"What Democracy Means to Me" by Johnny Carson

To me, democracy means placing trust in the little guy, giving the fruits of nationhood to those who built the nation. Democracy means anyone can grow up to be president, and anyone who doesn't grow up can be vice president.

Democracy is people of all races, colors, and creeds united by a single dream: to get rich and move to the suburbs away from people of all races, colors, and creeds. Democracy is having time set aside to worship — 18 years if you're Jim Bakker.

Democracy is buying a big house you can't afford with money you don't have to impress people you wish were dead. And, unlike communism, democracy does not mean having just one ineffective political party; it means having two ineffective political parties.

Democracy means freedom of sexual choice between any two consenting adults; Utopia means freedom of choice between three or more consenting adults. But I digress. Democracy is welcoming people from other lands, and giving them something to hold onto — usually a mop or a leaf blower. It means that with proper timing and scrupulous bookkeeping, anyone can die owing the government a huge amount of money.

Democracy means a thriving heartland with rolling fields of Alfalfa, Buckwheat, Spanky, and Wheezer. Democracy means our elected officials bow to the will of the people, but more often they bow to the big butts of campaign contributors.

Yes, democracy means fighting every day for what you deserve, and fighting even harder to keep other weaker people from getting what they deserve. Democracy means never having the Secret Police show up at your door. Of course, it also means never having the cable guy show up at your door. It's a tradeoff. Democracy means free television. Not good television, but free.

Democracy is being able to pick up the phone and, within a minute, be talking to anyone in the country, and, within two minutes, be interrupted by call waiting.

Democracy means no taxation without representation, and god knows, we've just about had the hell represented out of us. It means the freedom to bear arms so you can blow the "o" out of any rural stop sign you want.

And finally, democracy is the eagle on the back of a dollar bill, with 13 arrows in one claw, 13 leaves on a branch, 13 tail feathers, and 13 stars over its head. This signifies that when the white man came to this country, it was bad luck for the Indians, bad luck for the trees, bad luck for the wildlife, and lights out for the American eagle.

I thank you.

Thank you

By the way, i would like to thank you for sharing a bit of your time with me here. I do appreciate it very very much. And you are in my heart. Yes, i'm talking to you.

Ok, so, i'm a narcissist, so what? The thing is, i'm always carrying my digital camera/webcam/digital video camera with me. As you can see, the quality ins't the best, but it lets me take some pictures whenever i feel like it. And this was one of those times. I was there, at the make-up room all alone,in full costue and make-up for Nuno ( that is my character at the soap opera. As you can see, very different from me. I'm thinking about doing some animal work... Maybe a squirrel... ) waiting for them to call me to do my scene, and this is what i got... The jacket above the jacket is mine. Yes, it's that cold. Sunny, but cold. Posted by Hello

The most precious thing on earth: TIME

Ok, so i know i told you i was really excited about doing a short film with Luis Galvão Telles. He really wanted to work with me and me as well and i was going crazy thinking about how could i shoot the soap opera, open the play I LOVE WHAT YOU DO and doing the short film at the same time. I though that if i would have time that week to sleep i would be very lucky, but i really really wanted to do the movie. It would be an amazing role and a very generous gift from this wonderfull director. He was even thinking about doing it in english! But... Yes, there is a but... The production team started to schedule things and they have to do it that week, on the week of my opening. And there is no other way around it. The movie is going to be shot almost entirely at night and the fact that i'm doing the play would take at least four hours of night shots from them, so... Luis Galvão Telles called me saying that it was going to be complicated... And i told him very sadly that i didn't want to keep everybody on hold, that i really wanted to do the movie, but that if it would be impossible... Then, let's leave it to next time! I said i was sorry for all this mess and all... So, no short movie... But other things will come, i'm sure! If it wasn't this time it's because it wasn't made like that, so... And anyway is better like this, i'm not keeping anybody from doing nothing and this way i can rest a bit more about the play and the soap opera. Other things will come, i'm not worried. A bit sad, but not worried. As you can see, i'm so lucky that even with a lot of my colleagues over here out of work and complaining about the lack of work, i'm even having to refuse some work. I AM a lucky bastard.
So, my dear friends, remember this: your time, the time you have is the most important thing, the most valuable thing on earth. Spend it wisely. I'm getting the sense that life it's all about time and the way you choose to spend it... I can't do the short movie because i've commited with other things, because i commited my time. Who knows if things were different? Who cares? Good things are on their way.
